an impressive story released in lots of Thailand Magazines.Sometime back in B.E. 2513, a temple assistant in Wat Lahanrai was notified by LP Tim that B.E. 2514 was a great year to produce any amulets that include very performance. Nevertheless, LP Tim requires a child that passed away in her mother’s womb on a Tuesday and will be required to be buried or cremated on Saturday. The child will require to be eliminated from her mama’s womb with a routine. The ritual consists of using a phayant (magic material )drawn by LP Tim, special khata (magic scripts )and a mit-mor( magic knife ). The remains of the baby will be an exceptional stimulus for any magic development that comes side by side with some other holy products used.In the mission of such requirement by LP Tim, the temple assistant asked around and managed to find a pregnant girl that was passed away on Tuesday and organized to be buried or cremated on Saturday. The family’s members was approached and gone over on the function of performing the routine. The Thais think that if a pregnant woman passes away in a terrible will bring with her complaints and become a vicious ghost, hence unable to rest in peace. This is the reason for bad karmas in her previous life. The household’s members accepted the proposal thinking that this would assist to turn the decease’s bad karmas into great advantages and advantage everyone as a whole. The temple assistant continued to remove the baby’s remains out of her mama’s womb with directions by LP Tim.It is composed in numerous books that while the temple assistant wrapped the baby’s remains in the phayant and quickly went back to Wat Lahanrai, he may hear the voice of the mom’s ghost requiring the return of her baby. The infant’s remains was passed to LP Tim and LP Tim carried out another routine in the primary hall of Wat Lahanrai. Ritual went on for numerous days and nights and as soon as it was done, the temple assistant was notified to bake and grind them into powder. While throughout the grinding procedure, triggers were seen and this stunned the temple helper.LP Tim selected a finest date for the consecration event and he invited LP Keow to participate. LP Keow was an outlaw prior to he looked for haven in Buddhism. He was likewise a spouse of 9 significants other. All of his other halves resided in consistency and LP Tim said that with LP Keow great metta, it would assist quite in producing the magic powders. I think that is why LP Tim’s amulets feature excellent metta effects.During the event, just magic powders were created. The powders were later on utilized in the making of many amulets from B.E. 2515 to B.E. 2518. Amongst all LP Tim’s amulets, the most popular

originates from his KPPK and there are 2 bloks. The blok 1 were those that made by LP Tim himself and blok 2 were made by Wat Lahanrai’s committee. Same powder was utilized. All Blok 2 were

produced without any gold paint and all blok 1 were used with a thin layer of gold paint by LP Tim himself. This utilizes to both Phim Yai (Big Mold) and Phim Lek (Little Mold). KPPK Phim Yai However, after the blok 2 were provided to the public. Lots of fans asked for LP Tim to use gold paint to their KPPK. Some were painted just on the front while some were completely painted. No record was continued the amount that was asked to paint.Just those with 2 takruts behind are validated as Blok 1 and amount not more than 200pcs. Overall KPPK Phim Yai made( with/without takruts) is 2000pcs. KPPK Phim Lek Total KPPK Phim Lek made is 5000pcs and all comes without takruts.KPPK Phim Kayasad The earliest KPPK’s product used was prepared with Oils, Soils, Bananas, Kayasad etc. and Phat Ta Mong Powder. Kayasad is a sweet desert and can be usually seen during TRIMAS season( Buddhist Lent Period from August to October). Khao Pansa day is the first day of the rains retreat and Ok Pansa marks conclusion of the Buddhist Lent. The custom of Buddhist Lent or the annual 3 months rains retreat is comprehended in Thai as” Phansa”. This early batch of KPPK comes with both Phim Yai and Phim lek. Tough to identify.Aside to this, KPPK is thought about an argument amulet in Thailand. There is this rumor that the molds of KPPK were kept by the committee members and they recreated another batch after LP Tim’s death. While another rumors mentioned that the molds were offered to a gold smith store owner and he utilized it to duplicate lots of KPPK. All these are merely “report “. It is similarly published in lots of books and websites that there is simply 1 mold. If you happen to search thru some publications, books and sites, you will find lots of KPPK in various sizes and not apparent marking suggested by many publications. Phra LP Thuad

The history and background of the legendary Phra Luang Pu Thuad had been published in various magazine articles and websites.  In this subject, we had gathered all relevant info pertaining to the life history of this great master for all SimplyBuy members and amulet enthusiasts alike to enjoy reading.  We are not able to ascertain the stories gathered from various sources are 100% accurate.  Therefore, we strongly recommend that readers should use their own discretion in authenticating the relevance of truth and write to us if there’s any comment.

To begin with, Wat Changhai is situated at Pattani, South Thailand. It was built more than three hundred years ago.  LP Thuad was a legendary monk from the past and he is still very much revered by many people especially in Southern Thailand. In our present generation, he is famous for amulets made in his image which many believed hold great protective powers which have been proven to be very effective.

On 24th April 1963 AD (1st day of Chinese 4th Moon), the abbot of Wat Chaiya Mangkalaram, Penang, the Venerable Phra Kru Prasit Chaiya Mongol (Phor Than Daeng) invited the learned monks from Bangkok to Penang to officiate the opening ceremony of the holy image of LP Thuad.

At about 6 pm, Luang Phor Thuad suddenly revealed his presence in the body of a monk, presumely while the monk was in meditation. Impressed, many devotees asked for guidance and advice.  Out of curiosity, one devotee inquired about his life history, Luang Pu Thuad kindly revealed the following details:

He was born in Singora, Thailand. His ancestors had migrated from Fujian Province in China many centuries ago due to the turmoil situations back then in China. His ancestors had eventually settled down in Singora, South Thailand. His parents were also born in Singora, Thailand. His mother was of Chinese origin. His parents were very poor but they were faithful devotees of the Buddha. They stayed in a hut near an old temple, Wat Khokosan and were employed by a rich family as farmers.

Luang Phor Thuat was born at Ban Suan Chan, Chumphol district, Sathing Phra in Songkhla, Southern Thailand in the year of A.D.1582 (B.E.2125) when his parents had passed their 40s. When he was less than 6 months old, he was placed in a towel under a shady tree near the paddy field while his parents are working. At noon she ceased work for break time in order to breast-feed him. As she walked towards the baby, she saw a huge cobra snake curled around him. Alarmed, she called out for help. The neighbours quickly gathered whatever weapons they could and came round.

The python was stern and motionless. The people around did not know what to do. No one dared to initiate an attack. His mother, however, had an idea. She remembered the ancient belief that this snake might be an avatar of the gods. So she plucked 7 wild flowers of different colours, put them on a leaf, and offering rice cakes, threw herself down at the ground and bowed to the cobra. After a while, the cobra spit out a crystal ball of manifold colours on the baby’s chest and slithered away. His mother kept the gem and brought him home.

The farm’s rich man offered a very handsome price for the crystal ball. But LP Thuad’s mother did not wish to sell it. The wealthy man then tried to force her to sell it using undue pressure. At last LP Thuad’s mother relented in the face of the rich man’s pressure.

The rich man was elated, but only for a while. Within three days, all members in his family fell ill. Consulting a medium, he was told that he had kept something which did not rightfully belong to him. Only the baby boy (LP Thuad) could keep it. The rich man became frightened and returned the crystal ball to the baby’s mother.

Luang Phor Thuad began to learn about the Buddhist teaching in a temple nearby at the age of 5 years old. Being naturally talented, he mastered all subjects his teacher could guide him within a year. He went to other temples over the hill and across the jungle to acquire further teaching every day. He became a monk named Samanera Pu at the age of 12 years old and devoted a full time study in the Dharmma. Samanera Pu was fully ordained at at later stage and was given the Buddhist Monastical name Samiramo.  His father passed away at the age of 72 years old when he was in his early 20s.  In order to further his studies in Buddhism, he left his mother and went to other Ayuthaya the old Thai Kingdom.

From his present location, Wat Phra Ko, South Thailand, LP Thuad took a boat bound northwards to Ayuthaya province (a former capital of Thailand). After sailing for half a day, the boat met with great storms. The crew were frightened. The boat did not arrive at its destination after drifting for several days. The supplies of drinking water were running low. The boat crews, being superstitious, unfairly blamed their misfortune on the presence of LP Thuad. They planned to throw him overboard into the sea.

Sensing their ill intentions, LP Thuad calmly consoled them that they needed not to worry about drinking water as there was plenty around. As he stretched his leg out of the boat, the storm suddenly abated. Using his leg, he drew a circle on the sea and told the boatmen to draw water within it to drink.

The crew were furious! They thought that this monk was trying to trick them. After LP Thuad’s assurance that the water is actually drinkable, one of them decided to give it a try. He found that the water was indeed fit for consumption. Soon the rest of the boat crew went to drink the water to verify it for themselves. One curious crew member purposely tasted the water outside the circle and shouted that it was salty. The crew soon abandoned their thoughts of harming LP Thuad.

On the next day, the boat arrived at Ayuthaya province. LP Thuad walked for a few miles and was happy to come across a grand temple. The monks in the temple refused to accept him as he was poorly clad. He then turned to an old temple not very far away. The old keeper welcomed him and offered him board and lodging. He stayed there to study Buddhist scriptures, to pay homage to the Buddha and to practise meditation. He did this for half a year.

The ruler of a neighbouring Buddhist country, the King of Ceylon, eyeing the growing wealth and power of the kingdom of Thailand, sent seven monks to Ayuthaya province to test the achievements of the monks in Thailand. They brought with them 12 bowls containing 84,000 words. These words puzzle were to be arranged into a certain sutra within 1 week. If the task was accomplished, King of Sri Lanka would present Thailand with 7 boats made of gold. However, should the task be unsuccessful, Thailand would have to surrender its sovereignty to Sri Lanka. The Thai King found it difficult to reject such a challenge as if did so, Thailand would be the laughing stock of the Buddhist world and of the world at large. The Thai King then gathered all his country’s well-known learned monks to deal with this problem. Many tried but were unsuccessful to solve the puzzle.

A Royal Announcement was made to look for someone capable of dealing with the puzzle. All the King’s subjects were discussing about the country’s current crisis. On the fourth night, the King dreamed of a white elephant trumpeting in a brillant light. He consulted a medium and was told that it was a auspicious sign as a sage was likely to appear to solve the problem. The King was, nevertheless uncertain about the meaning of his dream as foretold by the medium.

On the sixth day, LP Thuad left the temple in the morning to ask for alms in the form of food. He arrived at a rich man’s house. They saw him holding a bowl standing in front of the door. The rich host reverently offered him food. He sensed that the monk in front of the door was rather extraordinary in appearance. He paid LP Thuad due respect and told the latter that their country which reputed for their Buddhist studies would be put to shame if no one could meet the challenge put forward by Sri Lanka’s King and asked whether he could help. LP Thuad replied that he would try. The rich host was very happy. He intended to invite LP Thuad to see the King immediately. LP Thuad told him not to be in a hurry and he would go the next morning.

After LP Thuad had left, the rich host delivered the good news to the King. The next morning, a special Royal carriage brought LP Thuad to the palace. On arrival he was escorted by officials to the entrance of the royal palace. The steps boomed with loud sound as LP Thuad walked on them barefooted. The King and the officials were all very quiet.

About half an hour later the monks from Sri Lanka came in. After exchanging greetings out of formality, LP Thuad began to arrange the words. 12 bowls of words were poured onto the table. He closed his eyes and arranged them with both hands. After about a quarter of an hour, he announced that 5 words were missing.

The 7 Sri Lankan monks remained silent. He then warned that anyone who did not quickly take out those missing words would die a most horrible death with a cracked skull. The culprits was frightened and took out those missing words.

With his eyes closed Luang Phor Thuat exercised his supernormal power to arrange the words. The sutra was completed in a little while. Seeing that Thailand had successfully responded to Sri Lanka’s challenge, those 7 monks presented those 7 boats made of gold and left. Thus LP Thuad’s name became well-known throughout the country. He was henceforth looked upon as a saintly Buddhist monk in Thai history.

Impressed by LP Thuad’s wisdom, the Thai king bestowed upon him the rank and title of “Somdej Phra Rajamuni Samiramagunupamacarya”. LP Thuad also later became King Ekadasaroth’s (King of Sri Lanka) advisor.

LP Thuad remained in the capital city for a few years until he was informed of his mother’s serious illness. He rushed southwards and not long after, his mother passed on at the age of 78. After the funeral he stayed in Singora, Thailand.

Upon returning home, LP Thuad had found that Wat Phra Ko was in ruins. He then sent a messenger to the Thai King asking if his majesty could help restore the temple. The Thai King was only too glad to help and the temple was soon restored to its former state. The Thai King also bestowed the land surrounding the temple on LP Thuad and the 250 families living around that area.

A state governor from the south by the surname of Phang, a man with a comparatively dark countenance, wanted to build a Buddhist temple. He came to Singora to look for a distinguished monk to head the project. One evening after sunset, he saw an old monk strolling along the seaside, leaving behind a trail of light. He knew that this was the monk to approach. He stepped forward to pay due respect to LP Thuad and told him of his intention to build a temple in Pattani. LP Thuad already knew about the matter through his psychic powers. He consented and went with governor Phang to Pattani. When the construction was completed, the temple was named Wat Changhai. LP Thuad was an asthetic monk wondering to many places spreading Buddhism teachings.  LP Thuad was the abbot of this temple till he passed away at a far distance location named Saiburi (now known as Gerik in Malaysia).

Rajamuni Samiramo Park – Gerik Malaysia

According to some historical records, the asthetic meditation master passed away in Malaysia in B.E.2217 at the age of 92 years old, some 336 years ago at a present village called Air Kala in Gerik Malaysia.   The passing away of LP Thuad marked the enlightenment of a supramandane being and it was said that his body was carried back by devotees and his disciples from Air Kala villange that was known as “Sami Mati” all the way to the present border town Pengkalan Hulu and then onward to Pattani before finally reaching Wat Changhai.  A total of 12 stops was recorded where the body was transported using a wooden carriage beginning at;

1.  “Sami Mati” Air Kala

2.  Pengkalan Hulu a Siamese village 300 years ago

3.  Wat Thepsuwannaram at Padang Pliang in present Kedah State

4.  Wat Por Saereeyaram in central Kedah State

5 & 6. Thai village by the name Naka

7.  Wat Phikhun Thararam a former Thai village known as Padu at the northern part of present Kedah state

8.  Wat Dindang in Tanah Merah located in the north-eastern part of Kedah

9.  Wat Parittaram in Padang Senai the final Malaysian border

10. Wat Baan Thamtalo in Thailand

11. Wat Baan Lekkachawa in Thailand

12. Wat Changhai the final stop

During the transportation along the stops, strange phenomenon happened where body fluids that flowed out from the body onto the ground and they began to form into molds.  These tiny molds began to grow larger on its own and devotees offered their prayers till today at those stops.  This phenomenon is still available today at Wat Thepsuwannaram and Wat Phodhichetiyaram in Kedah. The great meditation master LP Thuad had wished that his body be cremated in Wat Changhai within Thai territory as he may already knew in the future Malaysia and Thailand would be split into 2 countries.

At present, there is a monument to commemorate LP Thuad using his Buddhist Monastical title – Rajamuni Samiramo at this holy site nearby to Air Kala village called Kampung Sawa in Gerik vicinity where the great meditation master passed away. The village folks today are mainly Chinese community.  The enlightenment spot is a present rubber plantation estate and the land was donated by the land owner where a proper monument for LP Thuad ‘Rajamuni Samiramo Park’ was built here.  This is a holy site and for the interest of devotees and Buddhism to remember this great meditation master, I would like to share this merits with my parents whom went together with me to pay homage to LP Thuad. With this merit in mind, may all other Buddhist devotees find their way safely to this holy enlightenment site of Phra Rajamuni Samiramo.

We took the route to Rajamuni Samiramo Park via the North-South highway towards Kuala Kangsar.  Please look out for Gerik (TIMUR) signboard along the highway.

Note: The distance from Ipoh Selatan toll is 40km to the toll booth at Kuala Kangsar/Gerik (TIMUR) exit point. The distance to Rajamuni Samiramo Park from the Kuala Kangsar/Gerik exit point is 60km.

After you have turned into the direction toward Gerik (Timur), you will come to the exit toll booth and pay the respective toll fee.  After that, reset your car’s trip meter to zero and drive ahead to Gerik direction.  It should be 60km to the holy site from this toll booth.

The above picture is the Gerik (TIMUR) expressway that you will be travelling along to Gerik. When you see the signboard Lenggong, you are not very far away from Air Kala town.  You may wish to detour into Lenggong town if time permit.  If you do not wish to stop by, continue travel along the expressway to reach the destination.

Lenggong is a small township is mainly populated by Chinese businesses and is famous for its mouth watering delicacies e.g fishballs and noodles.  You may want to have a quick stopover meal to try out Khen Pang fishball speciality or Loh Dee Wanton Noodle along the row of shops in this small town.

Detour back to the expressway and head toward Gerik direction.  Upon passing Air Kala Chinese village, the holy site is not far ahead.  Keep a look out for the shoulder road signboard that spells “Long Phor Tuad”.  Follow the singboard direction.

The small road will lead you to Rajamuni Samiramo Park. It is a short driving distance along this small road and you will reach LP Thuad’s monument site.

Likewise for visitors and devotees wishing to reach Rajamuni Samiramo Park from Golok the Thai Border or from Kelantan state, please follow the Rantau Panjang – Jeli – Gerik direction that will take you toward Ipoh.  You may refer to our road direction from  our other published article Tok Raja Wat Uttamaram.

Now you have arrived. Most visitors and devotees will follow the worship ritual by firstly paying respect to LP Thuad Chedi as the 1st stop.  You may light up insense sticks and candles available at the table in front of the Chedi.  For those who want to place flower garlands to pay respect to LP Thuad may do so by patronising the stalls just outside the park compound.

The second place of worship is the large LP Thuad image flanked by 2 elephants at each sides.  You can offer incense sticks here and chant LP Thuad mantra.

Finally, the third stop to pay homage is inside the shrine hall.  After praying to LP Thuad, you may get holy water blessings from resident monks.  The resident monks are mainly from Thailand and Bangkok.  This shrine hall is a temporary structure and will require donations for construction according to the Chief resident monk, Phra Archan Kittiphan Kittiwangso (LP Phan) whom had been entrusted to look after this holy site.

There will be a ceremony to install the 1st Phra Prom statue on 18 Feb 2011.  This installation ceremony will start at 3.09pm ending at 7.00pm.  All devotees and visitors are most welcomed to Rajamuni Samiramo Park by LP Phan to witness this auspicious ceremony.

Overall, the resident monks are very friendly and helpful in explaining about this enlightenment holy site.  For devotees who have faith in LP Thuad, you may wish to donate funds for the temple maintenance and future construction of this monument site.  Devotees and amulet collectors may want to rent a large variety of amulets from other temples in Thailand e.g. Wat Changhai, Wat Rai, etc. that are available at the counter.  Pricing for each items are very reasonable for renting and ultimately sustaining this holy site for future Buddhist devotees.

LP Thuad is also referred as the Deity for Protection Against Car Accidents.  Hence, there are many blessed LP Thuad figurines and hanging imageries that are suitable to be placed inside the car.

Apart from amulet selections, the other interesting scene in this holy place is the Lucky Well where the well’s cooling water is believed to have been used by LP Thuad for consumption.  The other phenomena in this site is the location of a Lucky Tree where devotees believed that it brings lucky 4 digit numbers by rubbing the hands against the tree bark for the numbering to appear.

We wish all devotees a safe journey to Rajamuni Samiramo Park and may the bliss and miracles of Phra LP Thuad continue to provide blessings to all sentient beings.

In the later part of his life, LP Thuad mostly dedicated his time in spreading Buddhism across the Thai Kingdom and went as far as to the Malay Peninsula according to some historical sources. After LP Thuad passed away, he manifested in the dreams of his disciples. They then started to make amulets of his image.  The most famous amulet image of Phra LP Thuad was made in B.E.2497 by Ajahn Tim of Wat Changhai.

However, we must not disregard that other temples are also equivalently good in making Phra LP Thuad images.  Shown below is an example of LP Thuad loop lor herbs-based figurine made by a southern Thai temple.

Shown below here is a small broze metal pendant from Wat Changhai in Pattani which was given to my daughter Rachel.  Wat Changhai is well known largely associated with its past temple abbot Luang Po Tim whom created the highly popular batch known B.E.2497 models.

Also shown below is a Medicinal Herbs amulet with metal flakes from Wat Hui Mongkon (largest LP Tuad statue ever built in Thailand).  This batch is named Patihan “Signature” made in B.E.2551. The phims (mold) designs used in the creation of this Patihan batch is similar to Wat Changhai’s B.E.2497 designs.

Phim Yai with Heart of Phra Rahoo          Wat Hui Mong Kon – Patihan “Signature” batch.

Even today, many amulets made of LP Tuad image continues to be produced being the most famous batch made in B.E.2497 (1954 A.D.) chanted and produced by Luang Po Tim from Wat Changhai.  The article below depicts Ajahn Tim sitting far right with other senior Buddhist masters.

Shown below is another fine example of Wat Changhai amulet later batch with mixture of holy ingredient from B.E. 2497 powders.

The LP Tuad below are excellent pieces containing B.E.2497 sacred powder consecrated at Wat Khao Or in B.E.2531 (A.D.1988) by famous Southern monks during that era. This batch is highly worth collecting.

Shown above are 2 remarkable pieces of Wat Khao Or B.E.2531 in casing.

Apart from Ajahn Tim of Wat Changhai whom is famous for making LP Thuad amulet image, another notable monk equally famous in making LP Thuad amulet is Ajahn Nong from Wat Saikow in Pattani, Songkhla.  Ajahn Nong and Ajahn Tim are friends in their lifetime.  Ajahn Nong and Ajahn Tim were ordained on the same day, and naturally were good friends often helping each other on various missions, including an occasion in B.E.2497 when they both  co-created the Luang Phor Thuad Pranuewahn amulets.

Both teachers had since passed away and the legacy that they left behind is their teaching of our Lord Buddha and the Phra LP Thuad amulets they consecrated out of compassion for all lay devotees like us. These amulets are now very rare and expensive, well beyond the budget of the average collectors. Fortunately there are many LP Thuad votive tablets that still falls within the means of most collectors.

Ajahn Tim was born on the 21st day of the 8th month B.E.2455 (A.D.1912) in Pattani Province. The monastical name of Ajahn Tim is Phra Timthammatalo.  He was ordained at Wat Napradu in B.E.2476 and his preceptor during the ordination was Phra Ku Phibunsommanawat.  On the 15th day of the 7th month in B.E.2484, Ajahn Tim became Wat Chang Hai’s 5th chief monk in 1941 during the Second World War.  He was a very compassionate monk during those time of perils and he was much loved by the people.

In B.E.2495 Ajahn Tim undertake the task of reconstructing Wat Changhai and there was a shortage of funds.  At the same time, there was a very wealthy man Anan Kananuraj who came forward to offer sponsor for the much needed temple funds for temple reconstruction.  It’s co-incidnt that Ajahn Tim received the main sponsorship from this wealthy benefactor.

Anan Kananuraj had been suffering back pain illness.  One night Anan dreamt of an elderly monk with a crooked walking stick standing in front of Wat Changhai.  The elderly monk illustrated to him how he had turned sea water into fresh water.  It was a dream that seemed so real.  Finally the elderly monk asked him to kneel down and this monk gave blessing to him by suppressing his forehead with some mantra chanting.  The elderly monk told Anan that he will soon have an important assignment and Anan gladfully accepted it.  The next morning Anan found his dream very strange and he also discovered that his back pain was completely cured.  Looking stunt, he went to Wat Changhai to find out what was his assisgnment that was derived from the earlier dream that had cured his illness.

True enough when Anan met with Ajahn Tim, he found out that the temple was short of funds and volunteers.  Immediately without any hesitation, Anan  volunteered and donated the much needed funds for the temple reconstruction works.  That night Ajahn Tim went into deep meditation and LP Thuad revealed his appearance and instructions to Ajahn Tim.  The very next day Ajahn Tim sketched the description of LP Thuad to Anan. The exact identical sketch of the elderly monk horrified Anah and so the faith and believe in the limitless power of LP Thuad became very strong in the minds of everyone.

Not long after that, Ajahn Tim began the design of Wat Changhai’s votive tablets with all the volunteers for the temple reconstruction.  The naming of this batch of votive tablets was in a dilemma as nobody have a clue about this elderly monk.  The elderly monk appeared to be over 100 years old and the word “Thuad” carries the salutation of great grandfather in Thai.  Hence, everyone decided to name the 1st sacred batch of “Praneuwahn” votive tablets consisted of holy powders and plants as Luang Pu Thuad.  On the 18th day of the 4th month in B.E.2497 (A.D.1954), the incantation of the first batch by inviting LP Thuad was conducted at Wat Changhai.  During this auspicious ceremony, high ranking monks such as Ajahn Nong of Wat Saikao, Luang Po Song of Wat Phra Koh, and Luang Pu Chin of Wat Muang Yala were invited to confer their  blessings.

It is clear now we can associate LP Thuad with Rajamuni Samiramo, the same legendary monk who lived during the Ayutthaya period.  As such, this is the miraculous ability of LP Thuad votive tablets to provide protection to countless worshippers started from Wat Changhai.  Sadly, Ajahn Tim passed away in the morning on the 30th day of the 11th month in B.E.2512.

At present famous Southern Thailand monks who concerated Phra LP Thuad amulets is LP Thong among others following the footstep of Ajahn Tim.  Venerable LP Thong is in his advanced age today and probably the batch in B.E.2552 (A.D.2009) Phra LP Thuad amulets that he consecrated would be his last batch.

Each piece of the “Match box” phim will come with a temple marking of Wat Sampauche and serial numbering at the bottom (reverse side).  This famous “Match box” phim was first introduced by Wat Changhai in B.E.2497 made by Ajahn Tim.

This recent batch was made in B.E.2552 and it comes with gold, silver and copper emblem of LP Thong at the reverse side. All genuine pieces must have the temple marking and serial numbering for this latest and perhaps the last batch of LP Thong.

Nowadays, there are also many fakes in the amulet markets because Phra LP Thuad especially consecrated by LP Tim are seen as prized collections.  Just to demonstrate this true fact, we have chosen a LP Thuad B.E.2505 (1962) mini statue that we suspected as a fake copy for our readers to evaluate themselves.  This genuine vs. fake analysis is done by comparing the mini statue based on one of our best Phra LP Thuad collection book.

All genuine B.E.2505 mini statue bears a serial number of 3-digits numbering imprinted at the bottom. The fake exhibit on discussion here (as shown in the above picture) also has a 3-digit serial numbering 389.  How do you spot the difference?

The imitation mini statue on discussion is shown on the left with numbering 389 marked in circle.  Please look at the details of each digits of 3,8 and 9 and compare with the genuine numbering details below.

You will notice the numbering 3 & 8 variances between the original and fake is pretty prominent. At least the book had illustrated to us what we should be looking for in this Phra LP Thuad mini statue B.E.2505 batch.

Another popular phim yai of Wat Changhai as seen in the picture below is also very prone to imitation copy.  This piece was purportedly bought at Trapachan amulet traders market in Bangkok.  Look how real when it comes together with a certificate from Wat Changhai.  The box is pretty old too making it look realistic to make people believe it’s genuine.  I managed to negotiate it down to THB 80 for this piece to be used for my amulet study purpose.

Continuing further our main topic of discussion, many Thais today can testify to the protective powers of LP Thuad amulets from the wearing of amulets in the image of LP Thuad. One of them is my Thai friend whom travels frequently to work with his faithful motorcycle and he had had many experiences of escaping accidents. Right till this day he will never leave home without his LP Thuad amulet.  Nevertheless, one have to take note that Phra LP Thuad amulet is most suitable for people conducting in legitimate profession i.e. office employees, people into high risk profession i.e. high rise construction projects and also for businessmen. It may not be so suitable for those in the illegitimate trades.

Whether an amulet is old or new, it should be worn with high respect in accordance to Lord Buddha’s teachings.  With proper understanding, even the newest batch that just came out from the temple will be as effective for own’s protection.  The amulet shown here are newly made batch and is in the drying process under the sun.

From my own experience and also advise received from others, it is highly recommended that we should not wear LP Thuad amulet into gambling places such as casinos to gamble, consume alcohols with friends or go to places of low repute. However, if you must go to these places due to mental temptation as a result of our Khandas (the 5 aggregates) or simply because of social, my recommendation is to respectfully remove the amulets and leave it inside your car.  Always conduct good karma as much as possible without harming others. That is the essence behind all amulets making to all Buddhist irregardless.

In general LP Thuad amulets are efficious in the following properties:

1) Protection from accidents (such as traffic accidents and even natural disasters so on)
2) Protection from all sorts of danger (such as gunfire)
3) Protection from black magic and any form of offensive spells
4) Protection from evil spirits, demons and other hostile malevolent entities

Below are images of various Phra LP Thuad amulets that remained popular among devotees respecting its power of protection against accidents and mishaps.

Apart from LP Tim and Ajahn Nong both old masters whom are famous in making Phra LP Tuad amulets, present masters are LP Thong of Wat Sampaucher and Ajahn Daeng of Wat Rai in Patanee Province.  We hope you enjoyed reading this article.

How 2 mamas talking at a water park helped crack a Thanksgiving cold case murder

On a bright Friday afternoon in June 2013, Heather Backstrom and Merrilee Anderson, 2 moms who live near Bellingham, Washington, decided to provide their kids a treat and take them to Birch Bay Waterslides for some splash and play. The 2 women may never ever have actually imagined the thunderous result their little choice that day would have on their community.Backstrom and Anderson were amongst a group of mothers discussing their homes, their lives and their house town of Acme, a tight-knit rural area a half hour from downtown Bellingham. Arbitrarily, among the moms raised a well-known case from years earlier in Acme– the unsolved rape and murder of a valuable local woman, 18-year-old Mandy Stavik, a current graduate of Mount Baker High School.

Mandy Stavik < img src =" image/svg+ xml, %3Csvg% 20xmlns% 3D' http% 3A% 2F% 2Fwww. w3.org %2F2000% 2Fsvg'% 20viewBox% 3D' 0% 200% 20620% 20349 '% 2F% 3E" alt= "Mandy Stavik" height= "349" width= "620 "/ > College student Mandy Stavik, 18, disappeared after going out for a jog in Acme, Washington, Thanksgiving weekend in 1989. Her body was found three days later in the Nooksack River. Bridget Whitson Stavik had really gotten back from college on Thanksgiving weekend 1989, opted for a jog that Friday after the big Thanksgiving meal, and had actually never ever returned. After a full-blown look for 3 days, her body was discovered 3-and-a-half miles away near the coast of the Nooksack River by Detective Ron Peterson. Peterson is still mental when he discusses the case almost three years later, due to the reality that he mentions Mandy “looked like my kid.”

For the locals of Acme, Mandy Stavik appeared like everyone’s child and her murder altered the extremely material of the town. Individuals were suspicious and scared a killer was amongst them.Investigators presumed

that Stavik, who was discovered naked, had been sexually attacked. It was the infancy of DNA crime-matching innovation, and Private investigator Peterson had actually just recently gotten FBI training in dealing with DNA. His training settled. Male DNA was found on Mandy. Investigators searched the area for

any possible suspects, and 30 guys gave saliva samples to have their DNA tested for a match to the evidence left on Stavik. However private detectives showed up empty, and the case went cold– though never ever closed.Decades later on, the catastrophe of the Stavik case remained a subject of conversation in Acme. So, it wasn’t altogether surprising that day in the water park that it showed up in conversation. It remained in the context of,” it’s crazy that we still do not understand who did it,” Backstrom informed” 2 days.”< img src =" image/svg+ xml, %3Csvg% 20xmlns %3D' http %3A %2F% 2Fwww. w3.org% 2F2000 %2Fsvg'

A chance conversation in between the females– and details they shared with investigations– led to a make over into the unsolved murder of Mandy Stavik.Backstrom and Anderson, who had in fact both gone to Mount Baker High School, but hardly knew each other at that point, began talking as their kids romped on the water slides. Backstrom unexpectedly blurted out,” I know who removed her.” Anderson, stunned at the declaration, then responded,” I do too.” Similarly intrigued, the two females informed each other stories about their encounters with a local guy around the time of Stavik’s murder.Anderson specified a male named Tim Bass, another Mount Baker graduate,

who was a pal of her spouse, visited her home one night a couple years after Stavik’s death, and knocked on the door. He stated he had in fact been out browsing and required to use the phone. Anderson was home with her baby young boy. Bass called the phone nevertheless Merrilee may hear the” beep, beep, beep “of the call not going through, and she believed Bass was not calling a working number and had in fact lied about requiring to phone. “So, then he strolls through the kitchen location and back to my bedroom, “Anderson remembered” And he said that he used to drive by our house. Which he had actually constantly loved me. And wished to make love to me. “At that moment she was taken with worry– her hubby was away, and she was alone with a male she unexpectedly saw as a predator.” I kept informing him “‘ no, no,'” but he kept trying to motivate me to enter into the bedroom with him,” she mentioned. “Finally– I informed him I would call the authorities and in some way– I do not even remember precisely how, I got him out of my home.”

Hearing this story, Backstrom exclaimed that she too had a very undesirable experience with the extremely same male, Tim Bass, simply months prior to Mandy Stavik’s murder. She had actually been only 15 at the time, and Bass was 21. It sought a softball video game, and they were riding in a truck driven by another boy, called Dan, whom Heather later wed. At the time though, they were simply good friends. Heather sat in between Dan, the motorist, and Tim Bass in the front seat.

Bass began flirting highly with her. “He would speak about my eyes and state they were beautiful. Then he took a pen out of the cup holder and would begin rubbing it along my knees,” specified Backstrom. She mentions she was truly uneasy, however merely played along, understanding that Dan’s existence would avoid Tim from getting anymore physical. However the incident constantly stuck out in her memory, and in the little neighborhood, she made a point of trying to avoid contact with Bass. The two females for several years had thoughts that if he acted toward them in this predatory way, it was conceivable that Bass might have done the exact same thing to other females– perhaps even Mandy Stavik. However they had definitely nothing more concrete than their own suspicions and never named him to police.” I really wasn’t ready due to the truth that we remain in a town.

And to implicate somebody of something of we do not understand for sure, is a little frightening,” Anderson stated. However here in the water park, more than twenty years later on, increased by a similar tale from her new associate, Anderson comprehended it was time to speak up. She contacted a high school schoolmate who was a private investigator with the Whatcom Constable’s Workplace and told him of their suspicions about Tim Bass. What occurred from there is a twisty tale of creative and relentless investigation

by regional authorities; a dedicated district lawyer who came out of retirement to manage the case he had begun many years ago; and the resourceful aid of a regional female called Kim Wagner, who supplied cops with a crucial piece of proof that last but not least broken this obviously unsolvable case. “I wanted to do the very best thing for Mandy,” Wagner stated. Her actions and the assiduous pursuit of the case by various others in the area finally caused a procedure of closure for Mandy Stavik’s mom Mary and the rest of the family.” I absolutely did not think it would ever get resolved,” Mary Stavik specified.
